    satire at it's finest

    Although written nearly a quarter of a century ago (turns 250 years old in 2009), Candide is a brilliant satire that still strikes a cord with modern society.  Voltaire's attack on optimism is shocking and deeply funny, even when tragic.  He reveal's situations and characters as ultimately flawed and destined for destruction.

    A must read for anyone with a disposition to cynicism or dark humour.
