Get ready for good books, new friends, and an idyllic farm location at Book Huddle’s second reading retreat from Jan 19-21, 2024. Our retreat is at Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Organic Farm, an Albuquerque-based boutique hotel that’s been featured in CN Traveller, Vogue, and Architectural Digest!

Come to a reading retreat in Albuquerque from Jan 19-21, 2024.

Dreams do come true! For the second Book Huddle reading retreat, we’ll be in Albuquerque, NM at Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Organic Farm.

Our magical venue has won the TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice award multiple times, and it’s the perfect getaway to start the new year on the right foot. While it won’t be lavender blooming season while we’re there, we’ll be immersed in nature—with 25 acres of cottonwood trees and formal gardens, local peacocks, and bikes to explore!

This weekend will leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated for the new year, complete with great reads and new friends.

Your ticket includes:

  • Your weekend’s book of choice, mailed to you in advance

  • A designated book club crew for the weekend with guided discussion prompts

  • Exclusive use of Los Poblano’s on-site library and art gallery space, reserved just for our group!

  • All meals (with ingredients mainly sourced from the farm!), snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages

  • Single or shared room accommodations, complete with private modern bathrooms

  • A welcome gift bag with reader-approved goodies

  • A group astrology and (weather permitting) star gazing session

  • Nighttime s’mores at the venue’s fire pit

  • An afternoon tea serving, complete with savory and sweet nibbles

  • An afternoon guided historic tour and nature walk

  • All taxes, resort fees, and gratuities as required by the venue

A cash bar will also be at our Friday and Saturday dinners!

This retreat will be full of quality book discussion, delicious meals, quality tea, quiet time, nature, and opportunities to make friendships with fellow readers. I can’t wait to meet you!

Note: Air and car transportation to/from the retreat is not included in the fee.

Every room at Los Poblanos is unique—but equally stunning.

Los Poblanos rooms are perfect for high-maintenance sleepers like me. All rooms have luxurious organic bedding, a wet bar, cable TV, private guest room safes, operable windows, high-speed wifi, luxury linens/robes, and signature lavender spa amenities made with lavender that's grown right on the farm.

If you choose a shared room, you'll be able to put in a request for a roommate and/or meet a potential roommate in our private Discord channel for attendees.

There are three different bed options. All options can be paid upfront. The solo room and shared room (K/Q) bed payment plans are sold out.

Spend a weekend reading and relaxing at an idyllic historic inn and organic farm!

Our retreat will be at Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Organic Farm from Fri Jan 19 - Sun Jan 21, 2024. Vogue described the venue as “the Albuquerque Farm that might make you rethink your life,” and I’m beyond excited to experience it with you.

Here are some additional details about the space:

  • It’s a historic boutique inn and farm, located about 20 minutes by car from the Albuquerque airport

  • The hotel is on 25 acres of land, complete with cottonwood trees, lavender fields, and formal gardens

  • The original ranch was owned in the 19th century, and it was reassembled in the 1930s

  • It offers wheelchair access and reduced mobility rooms

  • We’re going to have exclusive access to the La Quinta building, which has their on-site library (that also has a bar!) and an art gallery space

  • The rooms are scattered in various converted buildings across the property

  • Outside of our exclusive area, there are plenty of places to read and relax, and many of the rooms have patios

  • There’s 24/7 security and a strong adherence to health and safety protocols

  • The majority of ingredients used in our meals are sourced directly from the farm

  • We’ll have complimentary wifi the entire weekend

Want to read all weekend? Go for it. Feel like partaking in a group astrology session? Step right up. Want to learn more about the historical property? Partake in a guided tour.

The itinerary will be solidified to the needs and desires of ticket holders, but in the meantime, here’s what I have in mind:

Pet sheep by day; count sheep by night.

Here’s what I love about this property: All rooms are beautiful, and no rooms are alike. They’re all situated in various buildings; some are in renovated hacienda styles (hand-plastered walls, fireplaces, New Mexican artwork) and some are more modern and located near their lotus pond and gardens. A dream!

Once you’re in, you’ll vote on your weekend book track!

For the weekend’s books, we’ll focus on recently published works. This way, we’ll all read the books together for the first time!

All attendees can vote on the weekend’s fiction, fantasy, mystery, or romance book, and then you’ll pick your genre book track for the weekend. I’ve narrowed down some options for us to consider, which include women and BIPOC authors and LGBTQ+ storylines, and I’m open to suggestions as well!

Based on your book track, you’ll be assigned to a group of people who also chose that book, and you’ll meet in four intervals throughout the weekend to discuss your book in quarters.

You’re welcome to read your book in full before (or get a headstart) or read it while you’re there. Regardless, your book will be shipped to you before the weekend begins!
